New Book Features Dominican Republic’s Hideaways for Travelers

Caribbean Hideaways, Dominican RepublicA new book published by Rizzoli, written by Meg Nolan van Reesema,  with photography by Jessica Antola, explores Caribbean Hideaways: Discovering Enchanting Rooms and Private Villas, and includes some getaways in the Dominican Republic.   Thirty destinations from more than a dozen Caribbean islands are featured in this photograph-rich book. The islands include Jamaica; Dominican Republic; St. Lucia; Barbados; Guana, British Virgin Islands; Tortola, British Virgin Islands; Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands; Anguilla, West Indies; Nevis; Antigua; St. Barts; Bequia; Mustique; Grenada; and Puerto Rico.  Each destination is described in enticing detail.

The accommodations live up to their “hideaway” status as refuges with seclusion and serenity. Many are far from town centers and popular beaches. Visitors often have to make a concerted effort to get there; some are difficult to find.   If you are looking for a vacation in a “hideaway” then the location is part of the resort’s appeal and underlies the quality of the experience.

The book is visually attractive, and every essay is accompanied by a color photo.  We hope you will find a resort you want to visit in the Dominican Republic, and enjoy the beauty of our country.
