Government announces access to green funds

Dominican Republic will access the Green Funds, for which it will meet with Inter-American Development Bank and World Bank representatives, who will evaluate the main sources of options for developing the countries to finance compensation towards climatic change.
The Fund will be implemented in 2012, because the country seeks to achieve the technical capabilities to share the resources that are designed to adapt to climatic change.
The Dominican Government participated in the 17th Conference of the United Nations Convention on Climatic Change, where IDB and World Bank representatives met with officials of the country.
Climatic Change Council vice president Omar Ramirez, who headed the Dominican delegation, said the package includes the Green Climatic Fund, a committee designed to improve the adaptation interaction at a global scale, and a technology mechanism which will be totally operational in 2012.
