The Cibao-Sur Highway, which will link both regions, and aid their development, could be tendered for no later than August, Public Works minister Gonzalo Castillo affirmed Sunday. He said if all goes as planned, construction could start as early as October.
Castillo said Public Works technicians are nearly finished with the final design, to be submitted to president Danilo Medina in the next few days. He said the international public tender is being organized to select a contractor to build the highway linking the south and north regions, spanning Santiago and San Juan provinces.
He also confirmed that the roads construction does not include tunnels as originally reported, because in addition to linking important regions, it will also be panoramic. San Juan province agrcultural sectors have hailed the work, confirming that it will help them open a new market for their crops.
