Thousands of people from all walks of life, all joined in and enjoyed the colorful National Carnaval Parade.
Reigning Carnaval kings Milly Quezada and Fernando Villalona, inaugurated the parade on the Culture Ministry’s official chariot, to the cheers of an electrified crowd who attended the annual event, this year dedicated to the town of Bani, in the southern Peravia province.
This year, the La Vega Carnaval Parade took place along a stretch of the seaside at Malecon on Sunday, and included the participation of troupes and floats from most of the country’s provinces and municipalities, and even from other countries.
Every Sunday during the month of February, different cities all over the country have their “Carnaval” parades. The Carnaval of La Vega is the most popular and known internationally. The main parade takes place in the city of Santo Domingo.
The main groups from the provinces and the capital take part in this great parade, creating a spectacular event which closes the Carnaval festivities.
